Misconceptions Addressed

Updated: Mar 26, 2023

There can be several reasons why businesses might be hesitant about using instant quotes:

Complexity of Products/Services:

If a business offers complex products or services, it can be difficult to generate an accurate instant quote. In such cases, businesses may prefer to take more time to analyze the customer's needs and provide a customized quote.

Quotools is not intended to be used for everything. For large projects that are complex and take a long time, it's best to talk to a human directly. Quotools is for services where simple quoting tools can provide satisfactory estimates and can save sales reps a lot of time. That being said, an instant quoting tool does not have to be perfect to be effective.

Fear of Losing Money:

Providing an instant quote can be risky for businesses because it may lead to pricing mistakes that could result in a loss of revenue. If a business sets the price too high, they may lose the customer to a competitor. If they set the price too low, they may end up losing money on the transaction.

Metal Pros demonstrated that Quotools does not have to be perfect and that is why there is no pay button. Customers understand that stock may be off at times and price for non stock items can change as it is historical. A simple disclaimer stating that "top customers pay less" was sufficient for 40 of our top 50 customers to use our quoting tool on regular basis. They would rather have something imperfect than nothing at all.

Lack of Control over the Sales Process:

Providing instant quotes can be seen as giving up control over the sales process to the customer. Businesses may prefer to have more control over the sales process and negotiate prices with the customer.

Instant quotes provide customers with a transparent and upfront pricing model. Customers can see the cost of the product or service they are interested in, and this transparency can help build trust and credibility with the company. But it is still an estimate that gets submitted for an official quote before an order can be placed. There will still be contact between the customer and sales representative before the transaction is finalized.

Technology Barriers:

Implementing instant quote systems can require a significant investment in technology, which may not be feasible for all businesses. Some businesses may lack the necessary resources or technical expertise to implement such systems.

Quotools eliminates this issue by providing the instant quote tools for a monthly subscription fee. The fee is far cheaper than having the tool custom developed.

Overall, the decision to use instant quotes depends on several factors, including the nature of the business, the complexity of the products or services, and the business's overall sales strategy.
